Chatfield Applied Research Laboratories Limited

Laboratory Facilities:              Fourier-transform infra-red spectrophotometry;  gas-liquid chromatography;  test equipment for materials as indicated above, including road macadam and coatings for pipes.

Specialized Equipment:          Bitumen testing (ductility, Engler, Fraass, Redwood, etc., equipment);  environmental exposure (including sulphur dioxide);  exposures to humidity, salt-spray, weathering (BS 3900 and QUV), ultra-violet light;  testing of sealants to BS 2499, BS 4254, BS 5212, BS 5889, ASTM, United States Federal, ISO 11600 and other specifications; Minolta Chroma Meter colour measurement and analysis

Specialized Equipment:          Analytical balance (to 0.3 mg) and range of spring balances (to 50 kg);  Computerized measurement and recording of light (instantaneous and weighted means, maximum and minimum values, etc.);  Computerized torque meter for assessing wrist/hand strength;  Computers and a wide range of software packages;  Fluorescence under source of ultra-violet light;  Measurement of friction; Photographic equipment for microscopy, recording samples, accidents at locus in quo and personal injuries; Polariscopic equipment for stress analysis;  Shadowgraph for examining microscopic edges;  Stereomicroscope; Video equipment with facilities for high-speed actions, such as exploding systems;  Workshop facilities for constructing model systems for simulation work. Laboratory Facilities:             Laboratory equipped with stereo microscopes, various illuminated magnifiers, ultra-violet and infra-red apparatus, as well as the equipment to render visible impressions and indentations on documents by electrostatic processes (ESDA).
